ABOUT THIS SITE

Though centered around 50's topics, this is not a "kitsch" driven site. Here you'll find lots of information, but not so much in the way of nostalgia. There are plenty of other sites out there that deal in this sort of thing, and I may eventually provide links to them. But what you WILL find throughout are hotlinks to books, CDs, and DVDs that are relevant to the articles within. I don't do this randomly - everything I have linked to Amazon is an item I think readers of the book and visitors to this site will genuinely enjoy.

Welcome, friends!

This is the official website of The 1950s' Most Wanted , a pop culture lover's dream. Centered on the "Happy Days" decade, FMW (as we shall call it) examines an array of topics in digestible increments. You are ENCOURAGED to begin reading the book anywhere  BUT from the beginning. Find a topic of interest and see where it leads you. Here's one sampling of subjects you'll find covered in this book:

  • The Ford Edsel
  •  Howdy Doody
  • Playboy
  • Marlon Brando
  • "Rock Around The Clock"
  • The Hollywood Blacklist
  • Martin and Lewis
  • Bullet Bras
  • Indian motorcycles
  • Drive-ins

And, oh yes, Elvis and Marilyn.

Pretty standard Fifties stuff, no? But what about:

  • Ed Gein
  • Colorforms
  • Ernie Kovacs for Dutch Masters
  • Crusader Rabbit
  • Ebbets Field
  • "In God We Trust"
  • Hank Williams
  • Chlorophyll
  • "Howl!"
  • Groucho Marx

and , that's right, Mrs. Paul and Richard Nixon?

FMW has it all, presented in a lively, irreverent style. It's the ultimate bedside reader, wherein you will learn, among other things:

  • What Charles Manson was doing at Boys Town
  • What happened when Joe DiMaggio and Frank Sinatra staged the "wrong door raid"
  • What really kept JFK erect

ABOUT THE ARTHUR: Robert Rodriguez is a world-class pack rat with a head full of entirely useless information. FMW represents the first attempt at putting a lifetime's worth of  dubious pursuits to practical good use. He subsequently contributed to The Sixties Chronicle and The Fifties Chronicle for Legacy. The Fab Four FAQ followed in Summer 2007. For further info on Rob's background, click here.
